Hotel Oregon is like almost every other McMenamins property. It traffics in (slightly forced) whimsy and is a good example of how to restore and save historic buildings. As a result, you get the quirks and the usual. The quirks? Some rooms have sinks. Some do not. Unless you pay more, you are going to have shared bathrooms. There is one elevator that fits very few people and is very slow; otherwise, you are taking the stairs. The usual? You are eating and drinking at a McMenamins. That is a plus or a minus or a bit of both, depending on how you view their offerings. But you are also getting an experience that is fairly unique, decidedly PNW in temperament, and far more interesting in a chain hotel. I guess some of the usual are quirks and some of the quirks are usual. You figure it out! The thing that stood out here was the staff. From the front desk to the dining room, from those managing the bar to those cleaning the rooms . . . all of them were in good to great moods. I have stayed and eaten and sipped at a number of their properties over the years, and you occasionally run into an employee who is a bit too PNC (if you know what I—cough, cough—mean). Stoned and/or affected and/or disenchanted? Sure, those are postures. Here? From the tatted and talented youth to some that I would call more "wise" and “local,” they provided excellent service and treated guests like guests. Appreciated it. Rooms were cramped, but comfortable. Having AC/Heat in each room is a plus. Shared bathrooms were clean. WiFi was consistent. The food was fine (I am a partial fan). Bar was startling (they had Midleton 15 year on the top shelf for some unknown reason?!?!). Across the board, prices were fair for what you were getting. And the whimsy? Oh, the whimsy! If anything could have a scent, it would be the affected charm of McMenamins properties. Thing is, I enjoy them for some reason. Wonderful hotel in the heart of the town of McMinnville. It is a vintage hotel with period furnishings, and the artwork through out the whole hotel is very interesting. We loved doing the hunt for the passport clue, as it had us explore the whole hotel. Plenty of wine tasting on the same block, as well as good restaurants, so you can explore Oregon wines, food, and then stumble your way back to the vintage hotel.

Our family’s favorite place to stay and or eat! The McMinnville location is truly an amazing experience! Extraterrestrials occasionally stop in for a drink or two so it is one of the few places around where you might actually bump into one especially when the UFO Festival is going on! I ran into one in the lobby but it gassed me and ran away 😕 Without any doubt the absolute coolest place on earth to get a drink and some really fantastic food!

Absolutely amazing room! Pay extra for the bathroom and go as high as you can go. All I could hear was the rain on the roof. Independent heating/cooling controls in each room was delightful because in my option this location runs hot. Wish there was a window to open in my room but I get you can't get everything woth old construction and the A/C did the job. The soaking pool is lovely in the rain. Do not miss soaking! Breakfast at the Ironworks was tasty but most of my plate was cold. Exceptional service as always.

We had a chance to visit this location during the UFO Festival. The hotel is right in the center of the festival. It would have been a perfect place to stay for the weekend. My guess is book well in advance as they probably book up quickly. Bring your EVP machine and talk to everyone who's been there and gone.

It is such a beautifully odd hotel. Loved the artwork on the walls. The kids said it felt magical, like it would be in a book. Front desk was very helpful. Got to enjoy an open mic night. Would definitely recommend. 3rd St is very quaint and charming. Lots of shops to browse and peruse.
